ABSTRACT. We have evaluated an immunoturbidimetric method for the measurement of serum transferrin receptor applied to the automatic analyzer MEGA. 86 serum samples, including a wide interval of normal and pathologic values, have been used for such an evaluation. Good analytic characteristics have been obeserved, concerning linearity, imprecision and calibration stability. The comparison with an ELISA method pointed out at acceptably good correlation, even if a significant underestimation was shown, not completely corrected by the use of method-specific reference values particularly as far as low values are concerned.

ABSTRACT. In this paper the steps of the procedure of ROC curves drawing are analyzed; moreover, some remarks about methodological and statistical aspects are presented.

ABSTRACT. This study reports the results of multi-center evaluation of the analytical system for clinical chemistry manufactured by Roche Diagnostics. The data reported are those concerning the italian contribution to the evaluation. Aim of this research was the field evaluation of the analytic performance, the software, and the reliability of the system. The evaluation was carried out in various European and American countries. Our laboratory was chosen for Italy. The configuration of our analytical system included the I.S.E. module and two photometric modules: D (Hitachi type 747) and P (Hitachi type 917). The instrument underwent series precision tests, repeatability tests on duplicate analysis series, comparative testing using two clinical chemistry analyzers, simulations of entire routines to compare the results with the lab's benchmark equipment, and error generation to gauge the instrument's reaction to a variety of situations. Overall, the entire multi-center evaluation took into consideration 84 analytes for a total of 720,000 results, 26,800 of which were obtained in our center. The CVs found for series imprecision were less the 2% for enzymes, substrates and electrolytes, and less than 4% per proteins and drugs. The CVs for imprecision between series were less than 4% and 5%, respectively.
